In addition, Dr. Sedky managed to introduce a significant impact on building a solid research foundation in the Arab world that enabled conducting applied research that can be transferred to the industry with the objective of establishing local industry in the Arab world that owns its own knowhow and is capable of providing effective solutions for national strategic challenges. Dr. Sedky also managed to establish a financially self-sustained institution, where he managed to secure an annual operating budget of around 170 M EGP through diversified revenue streams which include, but are not limited to, student tuition fees, externally funded research projects, fundraising, community services, and capital investment. The research expertise of Dr. Sedky is centered around the design, modeling fabrication, and characterization of micro/nanoelectromechanical systems where he managed to have a significant contribution to the field as reflected in more than 100 scientific papers published in prestigious international journals and leading international conferences in the field. In addition, Dr. Sedky holds 19 patents related to the development of miniaturized devices that are critical for strategic applications such as night vision systems, high precision motion sensors, energy harvesters. He is the author of the book titled: “Post-processing techniques for integrated MEMS”. He established a MEMS fabrication facility at The Science and Technology Research Center at The American University in Cairo. His H-index is 25 and his work was cited more than 2200 times according to Google Scholar. Throughout his research career, Dr. Sedky secured more than $25 M from external research funds.
